Match Report: Bedlington Terriers 0 Prudhoe YC Seniors 4 by Charlie Walker

Duncan Graham3 Dec - 09:32

Prudhoe put on an emphatic second half display to ease past Bedlington Terriers at Doctor Pit Park.

Collins Unuareokpa scored the only goal of the first half in the opening stages, with Freddie Marr taking the tie away from the home side early in the second period. The YC then assumed control of the game and extended their lead via a Bedlington own goal and Ryan Ndiweni finish.

Prudhoe came into the game in strong form, looking to make it five games unbeaten in the division. As for the Terriers, the home team hoped for a turnaround after three consecutive league defeats.

The YC came out the blocks fast and seized the lead in the 4th minute. Harry Marr’s threaded through ball met Unuareokpa at the edge of the Bedlington box, who audaciously chipped James Lone to put Prudhoe ahead.

Ten minutes later, the visitors almost scored another. Matt Law’s glancing header rattled the crossbar, after an inviting corner kick from Marr.

Just before half time however, the home side merely fell short of an equaliser. Following a chance for Prudhoe to score, Bedlington charged up the other end. Terriers’ striker Carl Williams found himself one on one with Dawson. An outstretched foot from the goalkeeper directed the striker's effort onto the right post.

After the break, the YC replicated their quick start from the first half with a second goal. Marr coolly converted from the spot, with his effort into the bottom right corner sending James Lone the wrong way.

In the 63rd minute, Prudhoe made it three. After winning the ball back high up the pitch, Brad Lowes’ cross was turned in by Bedlington’s right back.

The YC’s free flowing play began to show from here as the visitors had an array of chances to add to the scoreline.

One of these chances was converted in the 81st minute. Liam Dalton’s lofted ball from the back unleashed Michael Wright down the right flank, who squared across the box for Ndiweni to tap home.

After a ruthless second half at Doctor Pit Park, the YC’s attention now turns to the cup. Prudhoe make the trip to the coast as they face Whitley Bay in midweek.
