Pool's Mikey McGee opened the scoring half an hour in, before securing his brace only a few minutes into the second half.
The YC responded quickly as Collins Unuareokpa netted his sixth goal in just as many games in the 50th minute. At 65 minutes, Prudhoe’s comeback was completed, with Sam Davison bagging the equaliser, his first goal in Prudhoe colours.
In the final minutes, the home side were reduced to ten men, following Jordan Plunkett’s sending off.
Coming into the match, the YC looked to capitalise on recent momentum after a 7-0 victory at Washington and an away point against high flying Esh Winning in the last two matches.
FC Hartlepool too came into the game in strong form, having been unbeaten in the last four matches.
After a quiet opening 10 minutes, the first concrete chance of the game fell to Prudhoe in the 15th minute.
A forceful twisting and turning run from Unuareokpa was capped off with a teasing cross into the box towards Davison, however Pools keeper George Briggs got down well to stop the number nine’s strike.
At 31 minutes, FC Hartlepool broke the deadlock. A clever pass from Nathan Bayes unlocked the YC defence, allowing McGee to tap home from close range.
The away side came out the blocks fast in the second period and doubled their lead in the 48th minute. After a stellar stop from Sam Wilson on the initial one-on-one with McGee, the number 11 converted clinically on the follow up.
Despite the setback, it didn’t take long for the YC to find a response as Unuareokpa got a goal back just two minutes later. The left winger cut inside on the edge of the box and coolly curled an effort into the right corner.
An opportunity for Prudhoe came from Fin Baty’s freekick in the 55th minute, with Jordan Plunkett winning the first header and glancing it onto Matt Law, who couldn’t finish from close range. On the follow-up, Pools’ Briggs made himself big to thwart Davison’s effort.
Ten minutes later, the YC found their deserved equaliser. Law did brilliantly to dispossess Olly Burrows and get a shot off on goal, before Davison fired home on the rebound.
The YC maintained the pressure on the away side throughout the last half hour, but couldn’t find the winner to snatch all three points.
At the end of normal time, Plunkett saw red as he brought down McGee on the counter attack, dampening the final minutes of the match.
Prudhoe’s attention now turns to table toppers Horden CW, who they face at Essity Park on Friday night.
